The football world is still in shock this morning after Paris Saint-Germain obliterated the world transfer record on Barcelona forward Neymar.

The French outfit have forked out an astonishing £200 million for the 25-year-old, smashing the previous £89 million record deal set by Manchester United’s Paul Pogba less than a year earlier.

Neymar, who has signed a five-year deal and will earn an eye-watering £782,000 a week before tax at the Parc des Princes, said he has joined “one of the most ambitious clubs in Europe”.

The South American added: ”Paris St-Germain’s ambition attracted me to the club, along with the passion and the energy this brings.
“I feel ready to take the challenge. From today, I will do everything I can to help my new team-mates.”
