Paris St-Germain defender Serge Aurier performed a ‘throat slit’ gesture while celebrating a goal against Mali at the Ivory Coast. Fifa said a  “preliminary investigation is under way”.

This is only one of many controversial predicaments that Aurier has had lately. He was sentenced to 2 months in  prison after elbowing a police officer, and he was suspended from Paris St-Germain  for Homophobic remarks against then-coach Laurent Blanc.

Despite this, he was also praised in the same match for saving Mali forward Moussa Doumbia’s life, when he intervened to stop Doumbai from swallowing his tongue.
